Power Supply Technology for Submergible LNG Pumps

Purpose

In order to supply power to submerged pumps installed within LNG tanks, Tokyo Gas developed and uses terminal headers, low-temperature cables and easy-to-attach cable connectors.

Features

In 1987, Tokyo Gas developed a terminal header which incorporates ceramic bushing in order to supply power to submerged pumps inside LNG tanks. This highly airtight and reliable terminal header has a notably compact size which provides a double seal with a single unit. Subsequent improvements and modifications, such as developing easy-to-attach cable connectors for simpler cable disconnection and connection during pump maintenance, creating low-temperature cables with a narrower diameter, and improving terminal header seal components, have been undertaken which contributed to the widespread adoption and stable operation of this terminal header.
