These are instructions for resetting gas meters used extensively in homes.
The gas meter will automatically shut off the gas when it suspects an irregularity in gas usage or detects an earthquake magnitude 5 or greater. If all gas appliances are unusable, the gas meter will need to be reset (resetting makes gas usage possible once again). However, this procedure varies depending on the type of gas meter. See below for details.
These are the meters used extensively in homes.
These meters have transmission capabilities and are mainly installed in the homes of customers using our My Alert service.
How to open a meter box
*Don't forget the gas appliances outside.
After the red light comes on, it will start to blink.
*Sometimes the light does not come on.
When the light stops blinking, you can use the gas. If nothing changes, repeat from step 1.
If you still are unable to use gas, contact Tokyo Gas Network.
